In this UX workshop led by TFL Product Design Lead Daniela Barbeira, we focused on developing a solution for an imaginary student at CSM. We were split into groups and given a student’s description and problems. We then started to create an experience map using sticky notes, noting key things such as emotions and problems the student may encounter in each step of their journey. After each stage of our process, we discussed our findings with other groups and gave feedback.

Our student was a 2nd year on the MAGCD course from London with a background in social sciences. A key problem we noted was their lack of confidence and experience in basic Graphic Design skills. We then worked on creating problem sentences: “how might we?”. We made multiple individually then collated as a group and chose our top 2 questions and displayed this on our experience maps to discuss with the class.

Then we did some speed sketching where we came up with quick concepts of possible solutions. Some included apps, websites, workshops, tutorials, etc. We proceeded with the same process as before and settled on designing a “basics of Adobe” workshop for our solution.

We then proceeded to create a storyboard of how our concept would work. We decided to create 4 frames for simplicity and conciseness, followed by some text that briefly explains the frames.

We then presented our work to the other groups and the Dean of Student Experience at UAL.
