Chosen Location: side exit for Caledonian Road and the small strip of the canal in front of it.
Rationale: I decided I wanted to learn more about the exit I would be taking when I moved into my new accommodation along Caledonian Road. I had walked this path before and originally had no opinions or thoughts about the area, so wanted to see if choosing this location for the brief would offer a deeper understanding of the space.
Methods of Investigating
My initial investigation included 4 methods: sketches, collages, photos, and videos. Elements of the site that stood out to me initially were mosaics of the wildlife around the site, the way different people would use the ramp or stairs to enter or exit the canal, and the different sounds around me.

From the first tutorial feedback, I decided to explore sound and use sketching as my method. Here, I went around my site and recoded the sounds around me. I also took quick sketches of the sounds (people, animals, nature), and refined them later on at home. I had to isolate certain sounds from background noises as London is extremely overwhelming, and I decided to add colour to pinpoint what sounds were being visualised within my images.
Another way I thought to investigate this method more was to create a visual sound map of my space. This method was not as interesting to me and therefore the outcome was not as effective during my tutorial presentation.

The main feedback I received on this work was to animate the sounds as it would be a more effective method of conveying what I was observing from my site.
